Biostatistics is concerned with the collection, summarisation, analysis and interpretation of data arising in the life and health sciences. This unit builds on introductory statistical work, emphasising practical methods relevant to biological and health applications. These include design and analysis of simple experiments and clinical trials, assessment of risk factors, analysis of binary data and an introduction to survival analysis. Practical aspects are enhanced via regular workshop analyses and a project, and via the regular use of statistical software packages for analyses
